it’s been hard to accept that i’m not able to work full time anymore, but thanks to the kindness and generosity of strangers and friends i’ve been able to make things work. y’all are fantastic and i am eternally grateful for every dollar people are willing to donate.

Just saw a Barbie ad here for the first time. It is starting, folks. They must already be desperate if they're buying ad space on TUMBLR.

Do not reblog official marketing or ads from struck works

including (but not remotely limited to) Barbie. They are advertising here because their actors are on strike and will not promote their products.

Barbie is not a struck work. It is okay to reblog barbie content. It's done and finished. Going to premiers for it is crossing the line. But going to the regular ass movie is not.

Read me and read me good: not seeing Barbie is a great way to show execs that we don't care about writers and actors.

Let me say that again: going to see Barbie is GOOD for the strike. Many people who WORKED on barbie are striking. They probably have not been paid yet.

The unions HAVE NOT asked us to picket the movie. Just the premier.

The original post is disinformation.

I believe it to be coming from a good place but avoiding works that are NOT being struck is genuinely harmful to the cause.

Also, the Barbie movie has been advertised on tumblr for a while now...waaaaay before the SAG-AFTRA strike was even being talked about (at least publicly). Idk if I was seeing official ads for it or if it was fan content before the writers' strike started too...

I hate the "Oh ur posting without tags? how is anyone supposed to find ur post🥺" warning shit tumblr does now. the hand of god will deliver me unto others

I got very loudly deadnamed and misgendered multiple times at the doctors office today. This new receptionist ignored the preferred name on my profile to deadname and misgender me loudly, louder than she talked about anyone else in the waiting room. My birth certificate says "F" nex to sex, my medical documentation reflects this, and I was still deadnamed and misgendered.

And the saving grace was a woman and her child. I wear cat-ears and the child too young to speak loved them, and kept pointing and looking at me. I'm assuming her mother kept saying "yeah, she's wearing cat-ears", "yeah, that woman has cute cat-ears", and the like. Her child was enamoured with them, and that woman didn't misgender me once. And each time my very obviously masculine deadname name came up, she looked upset at the receptionist, but not once did she give me a bad look.

It doesn't have to be much. You don't need to be a knight in shining armour, or in someones face. Simply a quiet refusal to play along with someone elses bullshit is enough. It was enough to turn a trying and tiring moment into something that put a smile on my face and joy back into my life. It wasn't a lot but it mattered to me.

It’s called “environmental amnesia” and it’s an actual issue environmentalists discuss how to combat. The climate crisis makes it more widespread but it’s been something that’s happening for generations. The story of The Lorax describes it beautifully. The idea that what you remember is what you consider normal, but if the changes happen slowly over generations, you don’t see how large they are because you don’t personally remember them being very different, even if you were told stories about it.

One struggle 🫡

if we keep getting fatter and hornier we can abolish all world militaries by 2026

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?

It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!

It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.

Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this

Barbara Howard being the Perfect Woman
(1.05 "Student Transfer" / 1.09 "Step Class")

one of my absolute favorite conversations i have with random gentiles goes like this:

me: i face a lot of harassment and weirdness when i wear a kippah and star of david in public.

gentile: ok but u could just not wear them.

me: i mean yeah but i do.

gentile: but u could just not wear them and then ppl wouldn’t harass u and be weird to u.

me: yeah maybe but i do wear them.

gentile: but u have the option not to.

me: correct. but i choose the option to wear them.

gentile: but if u didn’t wear them then no one would know.

me: sure. but i do wear them.

and it goes round and round and round in a circle for like 20 minutes bc goyim cannot comprehend why i would not want to just shut up and assimilate.

anyway here’s ur reminder that telling ppl who are being oppressed or discriminated against to just hide whatever it is that people are targeting them for is contributing to said oppression and discrimination. forced assimilation is violence, and telling people “just don’t do/wear/say x thing that’s a core part of your identity” makes you complicit in that violence, if not actively a part of it.
